Maya's engagement with WOMAD Festivals has been a significant and enduring journey, beginning in 2002. It started with the immersive experience of designing and delivering carnival art workshops as part of a small, dedicated team at the WOMAD International Festival in Gran Canaria. This initial collaboration quickly developed into a cherished and ongoing partnership that has now spanned over two decades. Across numerous festivals, both in the UK and internationally, this sustained relationship with WOMAD is one Maya deeply values, as it truly embodies the power of community art and the collaborative spirit between artistic practice and the celebration of global music and culture.
